Twenty Pound Note And Edward Elgar

EDM number 2903 in 2005-06, proposed by Peter Ainsworth on 01/11/2006.

That this House notes the decision of the Bank of England to replace the image of Edward Elgar on the reverse of the twenty pound note with the image of Adam Smith; believes that Adam Smith is a fitting choice for this purpose; but regrets the insensitivity of the timing of this decision bearing in mind that 2007 marks the 150th anniversary of Elgar's birth; and requests that the implementation of the decision be deferred until a later date.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
