Sexual And Reproductive Health
EDM number 2820 in 2005-06, proposed by Justine Greening on 20/10/2006.
That this House welcomes the Government's priority to improve the sexual and reproductive health of the nation; notes, however, that further examination of contraceptive service provision in terms of access, choice and quality is required to address the increase in abortions and sexually transmitted infections; further notes with concern the decreasing number of community clinics, which are the main providers of contraceptive and sexual healthcare training for NHS professionals; and calls on the Department of Health to send a clear signal to primary care trusts that limiting access to contraceptive choice, sexual healthcare provision and professional training will have long lasting negative health and economic effects on individuals and the community.
