Energy Saving Week (No. 2)
EDM number 2816 in 2005-06, proposed by Mark Lazarowicz on 19/10/2006.
That this House congratulates the Energy Saving Trust for organising its 10th annual Energy Saving Week from 23rd to 29th October; urges all hon. Members to make a pledge to adopt at least one of 10 small measures to reduce the amount of energy they consume on a daily basis: boiling only as much water as they need, turning down thermostats by 1°C, switching off appliances and not leaving them on standby, installing cavity wall insulation, topping up loft insulation to 270mm, replacing light bulbs with energy saving recommended ones, installing a condensing boiler, buying energy saving recommended appliances, washing laundry at 30°C and leaving cars at home for short journeys; and notes that since the Energy Saving Trust was established it has made lifetime savings of around 20 million tonnes of carbon.
