PRESCRIPTION OF DRUGS FOR THE TREATMENT OF ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE
EDM number 2741 in 2005-06, proposed by Nigel Evans on 12/10/2006.
That this House notes with anger the decision of the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) to prevent doctors prescribing the drugs that have been proven to slow down the onslaught of Alzheimer's in patients suffering from this dreadful disease; further notes that those drugs are estimated to cost just £2.50 per day; and calls on the Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Health to intervene in this issue and not to accept the advice of NICE and ensure that GPs are able to prescribe those drugs if they feel their patients will benefit from them.
