Fee-Free Atms
EDM number 2727 in 2005-06, proposed by Jim McGovern on 12/10/2006.
That this House affirms its belief that all people should have free access to their own money; believes that in order to achieve this a network of fee-free ATMs is crucial; notes with concern that 40 per cent. of ATMs are currently fee charging; therefore congratulates Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) for pledging to install up to a further 100 new fee-free ATMs in areas without easy access to fee-free ATMs across the North of England and Scotland, including one in Dundee, and for not charging a fee for withdrawing cash from any of its other 2,750 ATMs; and calls on the Government to support HBOS's campaign to have all ATMs clearly labelled in green if they are free-to-use and red if they are not.
