Waverley Rail Link
EDM number 2473 in 2005-06, proposed by Michael Moore on 29/06/2006.
That this House welcomes the recent vote in the Scottish Parliament in favour of the reinstatement of the Waverley Railway link between Edinburgh and Tweedbank in the Scottish Borders; notes that there were 114 votes in favour of restoring the rail link and only one vote against; congratulates the hard work of all those who have been working to promote the economic, social and environmental benefits of the rail link; further notes that the reinstatement of the line, some 37 years after its closure, will be the largest rail project in the UK since the building of the Channel Tunnel; and looks forward to the first trains rolling in 2011.
