Conservative Party And The Common Fisheries Policy

EDM number 2372 in 2005-06, proposed by Alex Salmond on 15/06/2006.

That this House notes the briefings in The Daily Telegraph of 8th June 2006 suggesting that the Conservative Party is preparing to renege on its previous commitment to withdraw the UK from the Common Fisheries Policy; further notes that this extraordinary volte-face should be effected with no reference to the Tory membership, fishing communities or indeed hon. Members; and further notes that this latest betrayal will underscore the total lack of trust from the fishing communities in a Conservative Party which took the UK into the disastrous Common Fisheries Policy in the first place and treats the fishing industry as expendable compared to the Tory party's other priorities.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
