Sentencing Guidelines

EDM number 2361 in 2005-06, proposed by Greg Mulholland on 14/06/2006.

That this House is deeply concerned at the outcome of the trial of a convicted paedophile who abducted and sexually abused a three year old girl and that this person could be eligible for parole in under six years; expresses its deepest sympathies to the victim and her family; and calls for an urgent review of the sentencing guidelines of people convicted of child sex offences and other serious crimes of sexual violence, including the eligibility of those sentenced for early release, in order to re-establish public confidence in the criminal justice system.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
