BBC Relocation
EDM number 2346 in 2005-06, proposed by Derek Wyatt on 12/06/2006.
That this House notes that Government departments in London will steadily be re-allocated elsewhere in the UK on the basis of agreed criteria taking into consideration economic and social indicators; is perplexed that the BBC does not want to follow these rules but instead wishes to establish itself, at a cost to the licence fee payer of £500 million, in Manchester; and calls for the governors to abandon these plans and to consider establishing separate departmental headquarters across the UK where digital take-up is at its lowest and thus properly to fulfil its public service remit.
This motion has been signed by a total of 3 MPs.
