EDM number 218 in 2005-06, proposed by Paul Burstow on 25/05/2005.
That this House congratulates the Sutton Guardian on 25 years of high standard local reporting; notes the large number of important campaigns it has championed which include the Guardian Angels campaign to raise money for St Raphael's Hospice, the Proud to be Cheam campaign to get Cheam postal address fully recognised, the Community Trust Appeal to raise money for George Mutter, a sufferer of spinal muscular atrophy, the campaign to save Sutton Magistrates' Court and a campaign to get proper recognition for Suez Canal veterans; further notes the countless contributions it has made to highlighting local voluntary groups and charitable events; and wishes the paper every success in its future.
