Tenth Real Nappy Week

EDM number 2030 in 2005-06, proposed by Norman Baker on 25/04/2006.

That this House congratulates all those involved in the 10th Real Nappy Week, an event established and co-ordinated by Women's Environmental Network, and now supported by the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) and the Nappy Alliance; notes that Real Nappy Week commences on 24th April, with many activities taking place across the UK boosting the on-going campaign to encourage the use of reusable nappies both by new parents and on NHS maternity wards; further notes the good work carried out by Real Nappy projects funded by WRAP to increase the use of washable nappies and raise awareness of the benefits of washable nappies in reducing both biodegradable domestic waste and costs for new parents; further notes that three billion disposable nappies are sent to landfill each year; and calls on the Government to continue the promotion of reusable nappies through Real Nappy projects as funded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and the Scottish Executive.

This motion has been signed by a total of 54 MPs.
