Daily Telegraph Political Reporting (No. 2)
EDM number 2017 in 2005-06, proposed by Chris Mullin on 24/04/2006.
That this House notes with interest a recent leading article in the Daily Telegraph which described as `tiny peccadilloes' the difficulties into which certain Conservative politicians got themselves during the premiership of John Major; recalls that these included the gaoling of a former Cabinet Minister for serial perjury in the High Court, the gaoling of a former deputy chairman of the Conservative Party, also on a charge of perjury, a decision by a former Conservative Party treasurer to leave Parliament following allegations that he and another Conservative hon. Member had accepted cash from Mohammed Al Fayed, and the acceptance by three Conservative hon. Members of £1,000 in exchange for asking questions in Parliament; and regrets that the Daily Telegraph was unable to find space for a letter reminding its readers of these peccadilloes.
This motion has been signed by a total of 35 MPs.
