Single Farm Payments In Cumbria

EDM number 1982 in 2005-06, proposed by David Maclean on 19/04/2006.

That this House recognises the plight of farmers in Cumbria, the vast majority of whom have not yet received their Single Farm Payment from the Government; calls on the Government to implement immediately some emergency measures to alleviate their conditions, including part-payment of their entitlements, the suspension of cross-compliance inspections until the payment process is complete, waiving penalties for late claims in 2006 and making payments against invalidated claims with a view to conducting a necessary check subsequently; and calls on the Government for an inquiry into the performance of the Rural Payments Agency.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
