North-South High Speed Rail Line
EDM number 181 in 2005-06, proposed by Mark Lazarowicz on 24/05/2005.
That this House recognises that a new high-speed rail line between Scotland, the North and Midlands of England, and London would significantly reduce journey times for passengers, increase capacity on the rail network to allow for increases in both freight and passenger traffic, and provide a real alternative to air travel on domestic routes; and urges the Government to give an early go-ahead for the development of such a line.
