Make Chatter Matter Week

EDM number 1589 in 2005-06, proposed by Edward Davey on 07/02/2006.

That this House congratulates I CAN, the charity that helps children communicate, on the launch of the Make Chatter Matter campaign highlighting the importance of children's communication as the foundation for learning, literacy and social development; welcomes the I CAN Wall of Words as a fun way of promoting communication; notes that one in 10 children have a communication disability, meaning an average of three children in every primary school classroom struggle to understand others and express themselves; further notes that the Government needs to provide information and support on communication development during a child's first years by making standard information available to all new parents; and calls on the Government to integrate this issue into their early years plan.

This motion has been signed by a total of 52 MPs.
