Additional Support For Hospitals Operating From Split Sites
EDM number 1584 in 2005-06, proposed by Robert Flello on 07/02/2006.
That this House recognises that hospitals based on split sites are by their nature less efficient than would be the case were all facilities in one place, especially when staff and patients need to travel between sites for treatment; notes that the additional costs that result from these inefficiencies make it harder for hospitals to balance their books; calls upon the Secretary of State for Health to determine the level of systematic inefficiencies this causes and to treat those split site hospitals as a special case to be given either additional funding or a special allowance equal to the inherent cost of inefficiencies brought about by their geographical problems; and further calls for a speeding up of replacement hospital schemes that consolidate split hospitals onto one site.
