Keep Wales Nuclear Free Campaign
EDM number 1565 in 2005-06, proposed by Jenny Willott on 06/02/2006.
That this House congratulates all those involved in the Keep Wales Nuclear Free campaign; believes that building a new generation of nuclear power stations would be far too expensive, environmentally damaging and poses a major terrorist and potential long-term health risk, and would not reduce carbon emissions in order to counter climate change; calls on the Government not to build any new nuclear power stations in Wales; and believes that future energy demand can be met more cheaply, cleanly and far more securely by focusing on energy efficiency, renewable energy, a diverse and decentralised energy supply and by promoting new technologies such as carbon capture and storage, clean coal and hydrogen fuel.
