Welsh Trust For Prevention Of Abuse

EDM number 1519 in 2005-06, proposed by Hywel Francis on 30/01/2006.

That this House, noting the innumerable lives scarred by physical, sexual, psychological and emotional abuse, welcomes the launch of the Welsh Trust for Prevention of Abuse's project Keeping Safe for those with experience of mental health issues, to be held on the Terrace of the House on Tuesday 18th April; commends the Trust on its grant from the Welsh Assembly Government to work with the Powys Committee for Prevention of Abuse, MIND, social services, the police and other bodies, to visit homes and day centres, liaise with family and carers, heighten the awareness of abuse and increase feelings of self-worth; welcomes the plan to produce a film highlighting the needs of this group and working with Learning Through Action Trust and others to produce workshops to ensure their best chances of integration into the community; endorses the inclusion within its remit of the protection of children and the elderly from abusers; congratulates the Trust on its two bilingual videos made in Welsh schools highlighting the prevention of abuse and bullying; and extends to all those involved in this laudable work its very best wishes for its future success.
