Victory Of Hamas

That this House expresses disappointment at the victory of Hamas in the Palestinian parliamentary elections; notes that this is another manifestation of religious leaders supplanting secular ones, which Western policy has facilitated; further notes that Western leaders elevated the Iraq election almost to the point of presenting it as redeeming the carnage; and suggests that they do not elevate the importance of the election in Palestine to the same extent.
