Student Participation In Further Education Colleges
EDM number 1484 in 2005-06, proposed by Rob Marris on 26/01/2006.
That this House welcomes the emphasis in the Foster Review of Further Education on increasing the learner voice and its input into college policy; firmly believes that students have a clear role to play in the production and quality of their educational experience; calls on the Government and the Learning and Skills Council to ensure that any move by colleges towards greater self-regulation is conditional upon their proving to external auditors that students are actively involved and represented by elected learner representatives in colleges' self-assessment and quality improvement procedures; further calls for student representation to be adequately funded so that learners are able to make a real impact on the design and delivery of their eduction; and notes the positive suggestions put forward in the National Union of Students' Loud and Clear campaign to achieve these ends.
