Museum For Darwin In Shrewsbury
EDM number 1474 in 2005-06, proposed by Daniel Kawczynski on 25/01/2006.
That this House acknowledges the importance of Shrewsbury as the birthplace of one of England's greatest men, Charles Darwin; urges the Deputy Prime Minister to gift the building in which he was born to Shrewsbury Borough Council so that the local authority can turn it into a museum of Darwin's achievements in preparation for the 200th anniversary of his birth; and believes that such a museum will be an additional attraction for promoting Shrewsbury as a tourist destination.
