FUNDING FOR St. PAUL'S CATHEDRAL

EDM number 1367A1 in 2005-06, proposed by Philip Dunne on 06/02/2006.

leave out from House to end and insert `notes that the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has to date awarded £305.6 million to places of worship in communities across the UK; commends the Fund for this support for the country's spiritual heritage; further notes that there is strong competition from places of worship for limited HLF funds and that HLF has to prioritise on the basis of conservation need; further notes that an application to the HLF for St Paul's Cathedral in 2003 was mainly to clean the outside of the building and to improve physical and visual access to the cathedral and was not therefore a high priority for HLF funding and that the application was withdrawn by the St Paul's Cathedral Foundation; believes that St Paul's Cathedral is a building with enormous significance to British national life and fully supports any eligible application for lottery funds that the St Paul's Cathedral Foundation may make in future.'.

This is a ammendment to 1367.
