Eastborough School, Dewsbury

EDM number 1220 in 2005-06, proposed by Shahid Malik on 07/12/2005.

That this House warmly congratulates the hard-working teachers, governors, parents and pupils at Eastborough Junior, Infant and Nursery School who through their combined efforts have ensured that the school was the most improved school in 2005 in England and Wales, moving from scoring just 85 points in 2002 to scoring 247 out of 300 this year at Key Stage 2 tests for 11 year olds; celebrates this extraordinary achievement as a true reflection of the spirit of the people of Dewsbury rather than the images that sadly had become synonymous with the town since 7th July; and recognises that the picture of Eastborough schoolchildren of different racial and religious backgrounds celebrating their success together symbolises the future of Dewsbury, and of the UK, where diversity and unity go hand-in-hand.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
