Parliamentary Seminar On Africa

That this House congratulates the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) UK Branch and the British Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) for initiating the very successful Parliamentary Seminar on Africa, Partnership Beyond 2005: The Role of Parliamentarians in Implementing NEPAD Commitments, held at the British Museum on 19th to 22nd October; notes that the 119 parliamentarians from 41 African parliaments and 20 European and G8 parliaments declared their common intent to ensure implementation of commitments made by their governments to Africa's development; and thanks the British Council, the Department for International Development, the European Parliamentarians for Africa (AWEPA) and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy for their important support for the seminar.
