Government Support For The UK Space Industry

EDM number 1164 in 2005-06, proposed by Alan Meale on 30/11/2005.

That this House welcomes the continued success of the United Kingdom's space industry, which currently employs around 15,000 highly skilled people across the UK; is therefore concerned about the damage which would likely occur to this value added high technology sector if the Government were to decide to cut its contributions to the ARTES technology programme; is aware that full support for the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security Programme is essential to secure and maintain the UK's leading role in tackling climate change; and calls upon the Government not to abandon its responsibilities in these respects, but instead to continue its quest further to enhance its building of a knowledge-based economy and support for the necessary efforts to combat global warming.

This motion has been signed by a total of 69 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
