Blue Cross

EDM number 1160 in 2005-06, proposed by Andrew Rosindell on 30/11/2005.

That this House commends the work of the Blue Cross, the UK pet charity, in finding homes for pets that would otherwise be destroyed; notes that Blue Cross re-homes almost 6,000 unwanted animals each year and cares for them until such homes can be found; further notes that, since its foundation in 1897, Blue Cross has always aimed never to turn away an animal in need and never to put a healthy animal to sleep just because it had no home; recognises that in addition to its four animal hospitals, the charity also has 11 animal adoption centres spread throughout the UK that re-home the animals Blue Cross has in its care; acknowledges with gratitude that its animal adoption service takes great pains to ensure that the animals are matched to owners that are right for them; and pays tribute to all the staff and volunteers who work so hard all year round to improve the lives of pets and wishes them continuing success in the run-up to the Christmas period and for the years to come.

This motion has been signed by a total of 53 MPs.
