Marconi

EDM number 927 in 2004-05, proposed by Lindsay Hoyle on 15/03/2005.

That this House expresses its disappointment at the decision taken by Marconi to reduce its workforce at its Chorley site; notes that in the region of 100 employees are being made redundant to take advantage of cheaper labour in China; condemns the lack of commitment to a loyal and hardworking workforce or towards the local economy; and calls on Marconi to work with union representatives to try and get the best deal for employees who are facing redundancy and to look to ensure that no further job losses take place and that jobs remain in the UK rather than being transferred abroad.

This motion has been signed by a total of 24 MPs.
