Kingston University And Sustainable Communities
EDM number 704 in 2004-05, proposed by Edward Davey on 09/02/2005.
That this House congratulates Kingston University on securing funding for the establishment of a Centre for Sustainable Communities Achieved Through Integrated Professional Education (C-SCAIPE), based in the University's School for Surveying; recognises that the funding from the Higher Education funding Council for England is an acknowledgement of the University providing leading-edge professional education, developing external links with practices and professions which substantially benefit teaching and learning and establishing sustainability as an area of professional expertise integrated with their teaching; also recognises that Kingston University can play a key role in championing the importance of sustainability in all aspects of modern life; and believes that the establishment of the C-SCAIPE will enable graduates from Kingston studying on professional courses to develop a deeper understanding of sustainability which will be vital in shaping the communities of the future.
