British Gas Energy Trust
EDM number 654 in 2004-05, proposed by Alan Keen on 03/02/2005.
That this House welcomes the launch of the independently administered ú10 million British Gas Energy Trust set up to provide grants and a Money Advice Service to customers in financial hardship; notes that in cases of extreme hardship grants will be available for other utility bills such as water; recognises the important contribution of such initiatives in times of rising energy prices in reducing gas or electricity debt, helping people to make a fresh start and manage their finances; further acknowledges the work the Government is doing to tackle debt; and calls upon the Government to maintain this approach.
