Prohibition Of Khat

EDM number 558 in 2004-05, proposed by Paul Flynn on 19/01/2005.

That this House believes that the Government should continue its warning on the dangers of Khat but is convinced that prohibiting the cultural drug of Somali and Yemeni communities would drive a dangerous wedge between them and the police; and further believes that prohibition would inevitably lead to a new irresponsible criminal market pushing Khat of unknown purity and strength to new users and would add greatly to the burden of work of the police, courts and prisons.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
