Participation Of Honourable Members In The Parliament Of The Irish Republic
EDM number 306 in 2004-05, proposed by David Burnside on 06/12/2004.
That this House is alarmed that Northern Ireland Office ministers are in discussions with the Government of the Irish Republic to arrange for honourable Members and members of the European Parliament to be granted participation rights in the lower house of the Republic's Parliament; regards these discussions as damaging to the independence and sovereignty of this House and the Parliament of the Irish Republic; and calls on the Government and the Government of the Irish Republic to respect each nation's independence and co-operate on the basis of mutual respect and not through a form of joint authority.
This motion has been signed by a total of 6 MPs.
