Atm Machines And Pensions
EDM number 253 in 2004-05, proposed by Mike Weir on 01/12/2004.
That this House notes that the Halifax Bank of Scotland has sold a large number of its ATM machines to Cardpoint, which is in the process of introducing charges on the machines so purchased; believes that other banks may be reaching similar deals; notes that many pensioners and benefit recipients regularly use such machines due to Government policy of direct transfer of benefits and pensions and the closure of sub-post offices; believes that the charges levied by such machines represent a significant amount for those on pensions and benefits; and calls upon the Government to take urgent action to ensure that pension and benefit recipients are not charged fees for access to funds through such machines.
