Abandoned Vehicles

That this House notes that there has been a 38 per cent. increase in the number of abandoned cars since 2002; further notes the serious environmental hazards posed by abandoned vehicles; notes with further concern the potential increase in abandoned cars under the provisions of the End of Life Vehicle Directive and that industry estimates indicate that this increase could be over 340,000 per year; and calls on the Government to take action to ensure that abandoning cars is not the easiest option for car disposal.
