Nhs Chiropody Services
EDM number 109 in 2004-05, proposed by Andrew Lansley on 23/11/2004.
That this House condemns the removal of hundreds of thousands of patients from chiropody lists who have not received treatment; is concerned that, where patients have been referred by general practitioners for treatment, the eligibility criteria set by primary care trusts or other local bodies vary considerably; notes the large differences in the availability of chiropody services in different regions of the country; believes that in the target culture of the NHS, the provision of services for which no targets exist will inevitably suffer; and calls on the Government to abandon all targets and allow clinicians to set priorities for the provision of healthcare.
