Energy White Paper Goals
EDM number 966 in 2003-04, proposed by Alan Simpson on 01/04/2004.
That this House congratulates the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for upgrading, in its presentation to a seminar for the British Energy Efficiency Federation held on 9th March, the carbon savings from domestic energy efficiency of 'around 5MtC by 2010 and a similar amount by 2020' from the status of 'expectations' and 'possibles' in the recent White Paper to the status of clear and unambiguous Energy White Paper Goals; notes that this is the kind of certainty that is needed to stimulate business investment in energy efficiency; and believes that these are further reasons why these savings should be specified as the domestic energy efficiency 'aim' required to be set pursuant to the Sustainable Energy Act 2003, as already supported by 335 honourable Members who have signed Early Day Motion No. 96.
This motion has been signed by a total of 37 MPs.
