That this House is deeply concerned about the culture of payment of compensation by police authorities without testing accusations in court, which is bringing all police officers into disrepute and encouraging speculative, accusations and compensation demands; and calls on the Home Secretary to investigate the payment of ú85,000 compensation by the Metropolitan Police, this week, in respect of alleged harassment of a many times convicted violent criminal.
