British Membership Of The Euro

EDM number 903 in 2003-04, proposed by Keith Vaz on 24/03/2004.

That this House welcomes the fact that the Treasury will again review progress with the euro assessment at Budget time next year; notes, however, that out of 161 speeches made by Cabinet Ministers between 9th June 2003 and 1st February 2004, the euro was mentioned in only 14 speeches (8 per cent.); urges Ministers to follow the advice given by the Prime Minister who said on 10th June 2003 that we would see, 'a definite change of gear in the way that the Government approaches this issue'; and believes that Britain's central role at the heart of the EU makes British membership of the euro inevitable.

This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
