Cites And The Ivory Trade

EDM number 862 in 2003-04, proposed by Anne McIntosh on 18/03/2004.

That this House believes in the crucial importance of conserving the elephant population for future generations; fully supports the efforts of the Council for the International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) signatory countries to eradicate elephant poaching; endorses the agreements made by CITES to ban trade in ivory; and urges the CITES Secretariat and Standing Committee to resolve to continue with this ban after May.

This motion has been signed by a total of 101 MPs.
