Regional Assemblies (No.3)

EDM number 86 in 2003-04, proposed by Bernard Jenkin on 26/11/2003.

That this House believes that a referendum on regional government for Yorkshire and the Humber is a costly and unnecessary distraction from the real concerns of people throughout Yorkshire who want better public services and have no need for a new tier of politicians and bureaucrats who would make decisions more remote from the people, not closer to them; and particularly decries the likely abolition of the North Yorkshire County Council which has an exemplary record of providing high quality services.

This motion has been signed by a total of 43 MPs.
