Opportunities For Regional Representation In The House Of Commons
EDM number 676 in 2003-04, proposed by Colin Challen on 25/02/2004.
That this House notes the historic commitment of the House to ensure that the affairs of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are given due and proper consideration in the House, with dedicated Question Times, Grand Committees and regular Adjournment Debates in Government time; notes that these provide opportunities for honourable Members representing these areas, and others, to raise in depth matters relating to all aspects of the economy, environment, health, education, employment, housing, policing, transport, planning, culture and general well-being of residents in those areas; and calls upon the House, in its process of modernisation, to extend the same facilities to honourable members representing the regions of England.
This motion has been signed by a total of 33 MPs.
