Pensions (No 2)

EDM number 65 in 2003-04, proposed by David Willetts on 26/11/2003.

That this House is extremely concerned at the current crisis in occupational pensions for which the Government must bear its share of responsibility; is concerned at the growing number of schemes which are closing to new members; is worried at the size of the deficits in major pension schemes; regrets the lack of interest from young people in making provision for their retirement; and calls upon the Government to recognise belatedly that there is a pensions crisis and to take action to improve incentives to save for the future.
