English Lowlands And Wetlands
EDM number 624 in 2003-04, proposed by James Gray on 12/02/2004.
That this House notes with great concern the recent report from English Nature that the decline of wildlife in England's lowlands continues apace, that habitat losses have caused the decline of such species as green-winged orchids, cirl buntings and silver-studded blue butterflies, and that wetlands and woodlands are similarly in decline; was surprised by the Government's complacent reaction to this most worrying report; and calls on the Government to act on English Nature's Recommendations, especially with regard to their landscape-scale approach.
