Landlords, Tenants And Letting Agents

That this House notes the contribution of the private rented sector in providing affordable homes for lower paid workers; further notes that this sector is invaluable in allowing skilled staff to re-locate rapidly; recognises that there are many excellent private landlords providing an excellent service to their tenants; further recognises that there are also many high quality letting agents acting on behalf of property owners who are living abroad or who are unable to look after the property themselves; regrets that their are some landlords living overseas who cannot be made to take responsibility for the property they rent out; further regrets that the Housing Bill contains no proposals for the regulation of such landlords or those who act as their agents; and calls on the Government to include regulation of private landlords and private letting agencies in the Housing Bill.
