Cambridge University Primate Laboratory

EDM number 577 in 2003-04, proposed by Tony Banks on 05/02/2004.

That this House welcomes the decision by Cambridge University to abandon the proposed construction of a primate laboratory; notes the conclusion of the planning inspector that the University had failed to demonstrate the need for such a laboratory; regrets the subsequent overruling of the planning inspector's recommendations by the First Secretary of State; congratulates the National Anti-Vivisection Society, the local authority and residents and other groups for their sustained and ultimately successful campaign against the laboratory; believes that the use of primates for medical experimentation is immoral, unethical and repugnant; and calls for such experiments to be made unlawful.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
