December Fisheries Council And Safety At Sea
EDM number 570 in 2003-04, proposed by Alex Salmond on 05/02/2004.
That this House recognises the dangers that fishermen face in the pursuit of their work to provide us with high quality produce; deplores the deal reached at the Fisheries Council in Brussels, and in particular the fact that no account has been taken of force majeure, the impact of bad weather on fishing time or time taken for vessels to steam to and from fishing grounds; notes the impact that this will have on the safety of our fishermen at sea; and calls upon the Government to have an immediate debate on the agreement reached at the December Fisheries Council and these unintended but no less disastrous consequences.
This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
