Title Of Chairman

EDM number 455 in 2003-04, proposed by Andrew Rosindell on 20/01/2004.

That this House acknowledges that the letters 'man' in the title of 'Chairman' refers to the human race and not solely the male gender; and therefore congratulates the London Borough of Havering in abolishing the politically correct term of 'Chair' to describe councillors who are appointed to chair committees and revert back to the correct title of 'Chairman'.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
