Payment Of State Pension
EDM number 366 in 2003-04, proposed by Kelvin Hopkins on 07/01/2004.
That this House supports the National Pensioners' Convention in drawing attention to an anomaly in the current system of paying state pensions whereby individuals only receive payment from the Monday following their 60th or 65th birthday; is concerned that those individuals whose birthdays do not fall on a Monday will lose up to six days of their state pension; and calls on the Government to rectify this situation so that in future state pensions are payed from an individual's 60th or 65th birthday as appropriate, or are backdated accordingly.
