Codeine

EDM number 258 in 2003-04, proposed by John Mann on 10/12/2003.

That this House notes that according to the records held by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency there are currently 96 granted marketing authorisations for medicinal products containing the class B drug codeine phosphate; further notes that codeine phosphate is a highly addictive opiate; recognises that everyday items such as cough mixtures and painkillers contain codeine phosphate; and urgently calls on the Government to review the over-the-counter sale of products containing codeine.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
