Lobby Of Parliament By Engineering Construction Workers
EDM number 255 in 2003-04, proposed by John Mann on 10/12/2003.
That this House notes the recent lobby of Parliament by members of the T&G, Amicus, and GMB unions to raise their concerns over the UK's position on the Posted Workers Directive (96/71/EC); recognises that the importation of cheap non-UK labour is undermining the skills, safety training and job security of the UK engineering construction workforce; and calls upon the Government to pass legislation to ensure that all workers on engineering construction projects are offered terms and conditions within the national agreement for the engineering construction industry in order to prevent the exploitation of both domestic and migrant workers.
This motion has been signed by a total of 93 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
