Santa Run

EDM number 244 in 2003-04, proposed by Lembit Opik on 09/12/2003.

That this House notes that from 11am on Sunday 7th December, 3,276 Santas turned up in Newtown, Powys in mid-Wales, of whom 2,826 participated in a run through Newtown to raise money for charity; believes this is the largest number of Santas to run together for charity in recorded history; congratulates Dougie Bancroft and the Dial-a-Ride team in Newtown for successfully organising this world record breaking event; recognises that tens of thousands of pounds were raised for worthy causes as a result of the Santa Run, which will improve the quality of life for many elderly and disadvantaged people; and believes that if Santa Claus exists, his good deeds may have been inspired by Dougie Bancroft.

This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
